1967 CABINET SAVE

I bought 2 of these cabinets at a church yard sale approx. 5 years ago . I think I paid about $5.00 each but I could be lying I really don't remember. Any way I set them along the wall and put doors on them to cover what ever I had hidden in them . As you can see they just became crap catchers. They had so much stuff on them you couldn't see the top.

I've been needing a work bench/ storage for a long time so I have decided use these . I have removed the face frame and the pedestal and put on 4 ,11 " legs I like my work benches to be tall because I can't bend over very well anymore .

I plan to install a wood working vice and several drawers . I think in my own case drawers will not become so trashy and will have a much cleaner look over time. I'm going to try to keep the top clean and not let it get buried like it was in the past. also there will be about a 4' opening in the middle for my jointer to sit I'm going to try to make a pullout sled to use it and then slide it back in when I'm done

An interesting note you remember I told you I bought these at a yard sale at a church . When I pulled the face frame off there was a sticker on one of the boards that was dated 1967. I thought that was kinda interesting..........Thanks for Looking

That Time of Year Again

Well it's that time of year again when I have to start getting ready to go back to school bus driving. This summer seemed to just fly by this year and I got nothing of major importance done . Well as they say that's the way it goes! I've had a few projects I've been working on slowly I will put on a few pieces and then take them off again because I don't like them. I try to build all my stuff so it can be completely assembled as a dry fit ,before I apply any glue or mechanical fasteners, it makes the whole process difficult because the fit has to be right on. Some times I run out of materials because of mistakes and I have to purchase more material before I can proceed with the project..... Some times I just get tired of a project and I will put away for a while then I usually have to start over because I don't think it looks good anymore.

I always tell myself this time I'm going to slow down and document my procedure but I never do just the way I am I guess .I am working on a game for the family fall festival my wife puts on at the Church each year. Its just a bunch of games for the kids to play and they win tickets to purchase prizes It's a lot of fun and its all free. This year I am trying to build a chicken coop and have a wheel in the bottom to disperse one plastic egg at a time . If anyone has any good ideas let me know all Input would be much appreaciated               Thanks for all of you're responces

Getting Old

I find it hard to believe that its August already. I haven't got a good start on everything I wanted to get done this summer. I think my biggest problem is my age  I' m a lot slower than I use to be but I keep telling myself I'm not . I seem to have more trouble with anything that requires being on my knees I'm only good for about 5 minutes then I have to stand up and move around. My eyes don't want to work as well either I have to take my glasses off if I want to look at anything up close and then I have to spend 30 minutes looking for them. I cant tell you how many times in a day I'll measure something 2 or 3 times and still cut it wrong . Oh well that's the price we pay for life sad part about it is I feel this old and sore and I'm not old enough for retirement yet. I won't go into what other parts of my body that have either shut down or just plain don't work anymore that's a whole new blog. Thanks for looking
