The weather and Christmas

The weather here has cooled off considerably in just the last few days and it's raining . Normally I hate the rain but if I don't have to work in it it's not so bad. I can leave the door to my wood shop open and watch it rain and it calms me . I don't however have anything good to say about the cold I don't understand why it can't be 70 degrees year round . I do have to admitt that I get more done when it's colder but not extreme cold . This is the time of year my thoughts turn to Christmas projects that I can do in a hurry . I have to give a shout out to Steve from Wood Working For Mere Mortals {if you have not been to his sight you need to check him out} He has lots of items on video that you can do to make gifts or stuff for yourself. I don't know where Steve gets his ideas but His sight is one I go to every day.

I get the feeling from time to time that I'm the only one who ever checks this blog . I realise as of late I have not been keeping up steady blogs like I should . Things have been a little hectic around my house the last couple of months and my mind and fingers have been otherwise occupied. I promice to do better in the future, What I would like you all to do out there is to let me know you where on my sight you don't have to tell me anything about yourself just leave a comment even it's to tell me to get off the net.I have been working on some new projects but they are not ready to post as of yet. If any of you have any questions about wood working or life in general maybe I can help..Drop me a line and i'll get back to you A.S.A.P...........................Dr. Rock

free standing mirror

I found this miiror in the trunk of a car about 30 years ago. I just put it in a box and forgot about it untill about a month ago. the mirror frame is straight grain qtr sawn fir and the base is mahogany. I did not take pictures of the construction of this I know I should have. The frame is a edge glued 1x10 fir board and is basically one peice construction rabbited out on the back side to allow for the mirror .The back is a peice of red wood edge glued and screwed to the back for easy access to the mirror. The base is mahogany .I still need to put a finish on this would welcome all suggestion as to what to use. Thanks for looking.
