road trip

It's thursday afternoon and it's still raining My deck project has come to an almost complete stop because of the weather . I guess after every one gets off work this eve. we're going to head for Idaho to see some of my family they all still live up there. Maybe by the time we get back the weather will break and I can finish my deck. Then I can get back to doing more wood projects, that will be nice. We try to do one large project around the house a year this is the first year the weather has not cooperated.......... see ya next week

old plane

Its rained here all day in beautiful southern Oregon. I know thats why it's beautiful . but it's kinda hard to do anything out side when its wet all the time. So I stayed in my shop and cleaned and contrary to my other blogs I actually cleaned I even threw out a bunch of scrap lumber that I have been saving for God knows what. It's still not as clean as it needs to be but it's better than it was. I did find something that I had forgotten about It's an old hand held plane Made by Mall Tool Co. in Chicago Ill. I don't know much about it other than the company was bought out in 1958 and production was stop I don't know what year mine was made but it still works

need more wood

As of today I'm approx 80 to 90% done on the deck part and then wouldn't you know it,I ran outta wood.I need more wood. If we had just left it only 20x25 ft.We wouldm't need any wood BUT NOOOOOOO we had to boost it up to 23x30 no big deal I'm only going to need about 10- 12' 2x6 cedar and then this bad boy will be finished . Except for railing and steps and............... and too make matters worse now its raining and I can't do anything

I have another hobby besides wood working Me and my family enjoy tooling around in this 1929 Model A roadster built by Ford . Its completely stock except for the seat covers we did those in vinyl because it holds up better in the weather. My Dad purchased the car when I was about 2 months old and it has been in our family ever since [I'm 58 since you ask] He and I restored it in 1969 we took it clear down and built it from the ground up It's been painted a couple of times since then and it needs it again but I can't afford it right now If any of you are in or around the Roseburg area in July we always take it out for Graffitti nights come see me

Display case

I built this several years ago when I still lived in Las Vegas all my work back then was done outside in the wheather .The top case has glass on 3 sides .
And two adjustable shelves . The bottom case has 1 adjustable shelf and is for storage . the top and bottom are seperate units to aid in moving. This entire case was built from recycled pine that came from crates that industial radiator cores were shipped in. I plan to build another 1 in the future only with hard wood. thanks for looking.

deck construction

Well the past week or so I have been building a deck in my back yard.I really didn't want the job but with our current financial woa's there was no getting around it.The deck started out at its conception at 20'x25' no frills no whitsles or bells, but after construction began the hole thing morfed into a approx. 30'X23' . I still have a long way to go and my body is telling to stop already. I'll post pictures and keep you updated as I progress threw this adventure in pain .

night stands....night sweats?

I built these as night stands for my wife she loves me so! They are constructed from 3/4 " plywood which has a lot of voids in it and the edges are not as smooth as I would like. But she's happy with them anyway. I think the next set will be made from MDF . I'm going to try to film the building process and put it on wood tube. I am a little technologie challenged so I don't know how this going to work.....Thanks for reading
